What is Codeaton?

Codeaton is an iOS app that shows what your AI coding agents are doing on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. When Claude Code, Codex or Cursor starts a task, makes progress, needs an answer, or finishes, Codeaton surfaces that as a Live Activity you can glance at instead of tabbing back to your terminal.

Which coding agents does Codeaton work with?

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode are supported directly via hooks. Beyond those, anything that can send a single HTTP POST — a CI job, a shell script, a cron task — can report status to Codeaton.

Does Codeaton send my source code anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. Codeaton transmits status only: an agent name, a state (working, waiting, done, failed), an optional short message, and an optional progress percentage. Your code, diffs, prompts and file contents never leave your machine, because Codeaton never asks for them.

Is Codeaton a remote control for my agent?

No, and that is deliberate. Apps like Happy Coder and Omnara let you steer a session from your phone. Codeaton is the opposite bet: it is an ambient status layer. It tells you when something needs you so you can stop checking, rather than giving you one more screen to drive.

How is Codeaton different from ntfy or Pushover?

Generic push tools deliver strings. Codeaton understands agents: it models each agent as a thing with an identity, a live state and a progress value, so a single run updates one Live Activity in place instead of stacking up a pile of notifications. You get a Dynamic Island strip that ends when the task ends, not fifteen banners to clear.

Do I need an iPhone with a Dynamic Island?

The Dynamic Island needs iPhone 14 Pro or newer. On earlier iPhones the same Live Activity still appears on the Lock Screen, and notifications and widgets work everywhere. Codeaton requires iOS 17 or later.

How do I connect an agent?

Accepted Answer

Sign in on the web dashboard, run `npx codeaton install && npx codeaton login` on your machine, then scan the iPhone QR. Most people wire it once and never touch it again.

Do I need MCP or Cursor Authenticate?

Accepted Answer

No. Codeaton uses local hooks and a hook key written by `codeaton login`. There is no MCP server to configure.

Can I watch more than one agent at once?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Codeaton is built around multiple agents across multiple machines — your laptop, a cloud runner, a remote box — in one view. The Live Activity summarizes every agent, and the app lists each agent separately.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan covers a single agent with Live Activities and Lock Screen status, which is enough for one person running one coding agent at a time.

How does Codeaton track usage?

Every completed or failed run can include metrics — tokens in, tokens out, model, tool calls and files changed. Codeaton rolls these up daily and lifetime per agent, and ranks your agents by token volume in the Rankings tab.

Yes. Rankings sorts every agent across every host you run by token usage, with run counts and model diversity alongside — so you can see which model, machine or configuration is actually getting the work.
